Meet the new IT foundation.

L`Oreal Paris Nude Magique Cushion Foundation 01 Porcelain
When we thought that we have seen everything, a new kind of foundation has hit the market. Though L`Oreal wasn't the first that came up with this new type of foundation concept. As no surprise, the idea actually comes from Korea. When the popularity of them skyrocketed in Korea in 2014, not long after other brands also started to come out with their cushion foundations. Like Lancôme with their Miracle Cushion Liquid Cushion Foundation. Today you can find some sort of cushion foundation at Kiko, IsaDora, Estée Lauder etc.
What is a cushion foundation? Unlike regular liquid foundations that come in tubes or bottles, the liquid is soaked into a cushion which you can pick up with a special puff and then dab it on your face. Also originally the idea was that the cushions would be refillable.
This is the first time I have tried a cushion foundation and I have to say that even though I have a combination skin (very oily T-zone, dry/normal cheeks) and this foundation provides a dewy, luminous finish, I really like it. Though it's not a foundation I choose every day, because some days I just want to be through and through matte, but when I feel like radiating a healthy glow this is what I tend to go for. The packaging is very chic and compact. It comes in a purple mirrored round compact, with two layers. When you open the lid, you’ll have a mirror and the top layer which holds the applicator puff. Tightly tucked underneath is the second layer where the foundation cushion lies. Personally, I never test the brushes, puffs that come with the products and this is no exception. For this and all of my other foundations I like to use my trusty Zoeva 104 Buffer brush. The first time I tried it, I did go a little bit overboard with it and after applying it I looked like sweaty Betty. The second time I already knew how to work with it and had a healthy, glowy finish. I really enjoy using it, because it blends beautifully and feels very lightweight and natural on the skin. The coverage is also good - it is somewhere in between lightweight and medium. Though this definitely is not the foundation that you can build up to a full coverage. Considering that I have a combination skin and most of the foundations like to slide away from my T-zone, this foundation performed fairly good. I did set it with a powder and I did blot it once in a while with my blotterazzi, but that doesn't bother me and I'm used to do that with every foundation. So if you have dry skin or you just love a dewy foundation this is definitely something worth to check out. If you prefer to have a more matte finish, this won't be the foundation for you.
Dewy skin lovers, get excited! I'm happy to share that very soon the L`Oreal Paris Nude Magique Cushion Foundation will be also available in Latvia - available in stores starting from the beginning of May!
